Our history
The series, conceived and privately sponsored for several years by Gordon Morton, a Palgrave resident and then choir director at St. James Anglican Church in Caledon East, was inspired by the in-house Palgrave concerts that for seven years were hosted by Russell and Verna Linney. The Linneys departure for the west in 2003 left a gap in the classical musical life of Caledon residents, a gap that Gordon sought to fill.
Although it is difficult to reproduce the intimacy of the Linneys home-based concerts, the quiet, tasteful surroundings of the Parish Hall at St. James Anglican Church in Caledon East, where most of the concerts are held, provide a warm, comfortable setting for this classical music series. We are not currently serving refreshments due to Covid restrictions. We hope to re-instate this when the restrictions are eased.
Caledon Chamber Concerts was incorporated in December 2007.
